I tend to get big yummy yellow bruises when I have blood tests. Need to develop the veins of a heroin addict PDQ I think

I've done it before, my blood clotted half way through and they basically told me I was useless after that lmao.
It's straightforward, they do some sort of survey and take a prick of blood to make sure your okay to give blood. They then make the vein easier to find by wrapping something around your arm, stick the needle in and leave you to it until you've given a pint. You get biscuits after too .

I've donated over 25 pints so far . when you arrive, you have to go through a question sheet first (just tick boxes). You will then be called and the nurse will go through some other general questions about your health and check your iron level to make sure that's OK. If all is good and when the next bed is free, you can donate. not painful at all and its over before you know it. when done, you can have some tea and bickies.

I didn't find mine out on the day (unless I missed where it said) but they said you a letter after with your blood type on.

I hope I can Tweet some pictures while it's happening. I've got a friend who's scared of the sight of blood

yup and up to 11 pints so far, it as simple as jacko says, can be a bit daunting at first but the nurses are nice and relaxed so makes it so much easier for 1st time goers

Shit the bed, a badge!
They don't recommend drinking tea if it's your first time, I was absolutely gutted.
EDIT: The little prick on your finger that they do hurts more than anything else

I used to quite regularly when they came to work twice a year. One of my other jobs they only came once a year.
Now unless I go in to town there is no where to donate and it isn't easy to get to.
I've donated about 8 times.

I was never too bothered about it, but the missus is a carrier of Haemophilia, so I am planning to donate mainly to find out if i'm a match incase anything goes wrong in the future.
Also I would like some biscuits and a badge

I've done it 3 times.
First 2 times i went all faint, had to be put on a bed with legs in the air.
3rd time i was sound so I'll do it all the time now.
I'm O+ so i can treat 83% of the population apparently.

Good on you if you do !
I donate, personal satisfaction post-donation is great tbh. I just ask them to place the 'bag' under the bed so I can't see it
Plus you get a keyring of your blood type
