3M isn't the best and is over priced imo.

An extra few hundred grams is going to make piss all difference on a road car.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CARBON-FIBER-Black-Wrap-Vinyl-Sheet-Sticker-1-22m-300mm-/190498408009?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c5a970649

in fairness, Di-Noc/equivalent isn't intended as a weight saving product. Its a textured Vinyl not actual carbon. They're now supplying it in various colours which makes it look even less like carbon so it is purely for aesthetics.
I've seen iPod and iPad cases done with it and it looks alright

Received this stuff 2day.For the money its spot on.Looks pretty good too and has the sort of textured feel to it.Was piss easy to work with.Didn't need any heat, but i wasn't doing parts that were too curved.
Highly recommend it.

Carbon fibre effect vinyl doesn't claim to do that though

strangest comment i've ever read.
how is carbon fibre look vinyl produced as a weight saving product?
people want the look without the £££'s they'd need to spend. fair enough it doesn't look 100% like carbon fibre, but it's good enough for most people.

Had noticed that. Dis some bits on the Astra with the 3m stuff and after a few weeks it was peeling off.
Got some pink vynil off ebay to do the missu's laptop which i think is made by Avery and it has not even lifted at all. Its a bit more fiddly to use but it has stuck very well.
