i do believe luck exists....

Sometimes you just 'do' the right thing, other times the thing you instinctivly do might not work out.

Yes the driver has skill - you can see that as he KNOWS what he needs to do... but the road is narrow, kerbed, drains etc.

Would the outcome have been the same if the slide happened 5m further on and had occured on a slightly different bit of tarmac/drain???

To me thats luck. Another day there could have been sweet FA he could have done to save it from clipping a rear wheel on a kerb and rolling.

I did something similar, only at about 1/10th speed in a van on some ice.
4am driving along a straight piece of road van suddenly heads towards a wall, I shit it and steer out of it, only to find myself now heading towards a parked car, thinking I was probably better off hitting the wall. Steered out of that one, heading back towards the wall when suddenly it snaps back into line and carries on it's way.

Definately think that was a case of luck, if it was down to me I think I'd have been wildly going from one side to the other until I ran out of road, reactions aren't too crash hot at 4am after about 4 hours sleep.

I saved from a similar slide and thought I was a good driver but I was doing 15mph in the snow
