my new IPAD2 won't sync to itunes? The cable works as I can charge it in mains, but when I connect it to my laptop itunes doesn't see it and the ipad doesn't charge. I have the newest itunes but all it says is "sync ipod" which is greyed out. Any ideas?
All that happens when I turn my ipad on is it gives me the itunes icon and a cable sign under it, read up and i'm told to sync the ipad to itunes but having no luck. Anybody else had this issue/any resolutions?

As per Robbo's comments.
I don't think the iPad2 will work with any version under 10.3 of iTunes?

Got it sorted, both USB ports are broken on my laptop but were fine yesterday! Plugged in a mouse to double check and they are both dead. Thanks for replies.

did you plug in the mouse and restart (to double double check)?
if they still don't work then do the USB ports show up in device manager?

It's a laser mouse so every other time i've plugged the mouse in it lights up, the light comes on when I put half of the connection in, when I push it all the way in the light goes off and it doesn't register anymore, bit strange?
Edit - checked device manager and I have two items with ! next to them, both the same thing so guessing thats both my usb ports.
Next to device status it says : Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing.
Do I just need to re-install the drivers?

Have you tried the mouse after restarting?
iPad could have pulled too much current and the USB ports have turned off to protect the laptop.

Still the same issue after restarting, my girlfriend tells me she tried to use her phone in the USB ports to charge it before I got the iPad and had the same issue. Any ideas on how to fix this?

probbly uninstall the usb drivers that are screwed up, and refresh it on device manager, and it should re-install them?
