You're never too old to ride a bike
You can spend anything from £70 for a heap of shit to well in excess of a few £k tbh. I don't know much about mountain bikes but my specialized road bike was £599 and my track bike is setting me back £799

Literally just took it up, if you get a mountain bike and mainly ride on the roads you will soon find out you have made the wrong choice (like me!). You will want to change tires at least to make up for it.

Specialized Hardrock always used to be that price.

Buy a copy of Mountain Biking UK. This month they're testing £259 - £300 bikes!

I'd be scouring eBay or local ads, I bet there are loads of folk who had similar ideas to you, rushed out and bought a brand new and barely used it. There'll be some really good 2nd hand hardtails for your budget.

Thas how I got mine. The lad went out and got it as he wanted to ride to and from work, He did it once and then it in his spare room.

Can get some decent bargains that way!

Got my misses' bike off eBay for £120. Was a right bargain at the time, should have been at least £200 on the used market.
