Hi guys, having my car sprayed laguna seca blue, been advised it's a 2k glosscoat paint so doesn't need clearcoat?

Can anyone confirm this is correct?

Will it be duller without clearcoat?

And I thought 2k paints were discontinued?

Cheers Rob

Ive heard a few places down here will still use 2k. Only meant to be discontinued due to a higher health risk iirc?

Wont be duller without clearcoat bud

It won't fade if you use a good quality clear over base.
That's what I'd do. But it easier quicker and easier to use direct gloss. Clear over base has more depth to it.
Direct gloss will still be shiney and is still widely available

Exactly that. So long as it's mixed right and mixed with the correct ratio of hardner etc

Sweet, well ive seen the guys work before and it's flawless so im hoping good things plus its under 1k as it's a bit of a favour.

ive just read another guy crapped himself when he saw it in the tin and thought it was greeny but then it dried blue, put my mind at ease a little

Still available yeah. Place near me sells it, not meant for painting cars any more apparently, meant for signs etc.

Guy i got last few tins of paint from, go in and give the car color code, then he sticks a sticker on the tin saying not for use in the motor trade gives you a smile and off you go

I wouldnt advise using 2k as i polished through my roof! I used it because its quicker and easier but when you polish/flat it out then your polish away the paint whereas if you polish ontop of lacquer and basecoat your only polishing the lacquer!
