Play where exactly?

Play is caused by worn bushes/bearings etc. Spacers wont help/

If i jack the car up i can move the wheel from side to side, all bushes are new, not sure how old the wheel bearings are, could it be the bearings?

The washer that goes before the castle nut, is there supposed to be one of them before the hub aswell?

Sorry mate but you dont know what you're talking about, if a bolt wasn't quite tight in its hole and the thing it was meant to hold down was still able to move you could say that it had play in it.

I've had this problem before, as if the castle nut's just not tightening up? a spacer/ bfo washer between hub and cv sorted it out.

Thanks for that! Do I use the same spacer as the one before the castle nut?

Did it come from factory like that? NO! So its worn then isnt it.

You're just digging a hole for yourself, clearly a corsa didn't come from the factory with an xe in it but the reason for the guy's cv rattling about is, I think, because the hub needs machined to be bigger to accomodate the bigger cv, assuming it's mk3 astra/ cav/ cally cvs. It's not because it's worn, I thought you would be clued up on this sort of thing do you not fit hydraulics to cars or something?

And if we're being pedantic it's a washer behind the castle nut and no that's not what I used, I can't remember what I ended up using. Just make sure the inner diameter is big enough to go over the cv but the outer is big enough to cover the hub if you get me

Can't you tighten up the nut anymore, they do need to be pretty tight.

the inner diameter needs to be big enough to fit over the spline shaft that the hub nut goes onto and the outer diameter big enough to butt against the back of the hub

I had similar issues on my old nova mate, the play was caused by the cv joints not having abs rings on which meant it couldnt sit flush into the hub

Might be worth a look

Are abs rings fixed to abs cv's, or are they seperate? Because if there seperate I could just get a set.

Thanks

pretty sure you can buy the ABS ring seperately mate.

Give your local motor factors a call.

do you know what outer cv's your running? (standard corsa or bigblock cav/astra etc)
