Had a blow out yesterday and what the pissed offness with it all and due to the fact I was in a rush I left the locking nut ket at side of the road. Only came to light when I went to get new tyre fitted just now.
Its a Vauxhall set as it came with the car when I bought it. If I go down a dealer will they be able to sort me a replacement? If so, how much at?

Probs work out cheaper and easier to just smack a socket over them, bin the old ones and buy a new set for a tenner.

Or just sack the locking wheel nuts off unless they are mega bucks wheels. Pain in the arse them things

i hate locking wheel nuts. best bet to get rid of them really.
i had this problem with my astra.
u can get a replacement lock nut if you have the keycode - shud be in that little square black box the nuts came in.
if you aint got that your screwed... u need to bash them off.

Got the box so will nip down tomorrow. Will they have any ready made that I could just borrow to get rid of them (got the normal ones to replace then with) as dont really wanna fork out for a key.
If not I may resort to bashing them off

have u got the keycode in the box? i had the box but no code 
so i tired bashing them off myself using several techniques - no luck.
so i ended up paying a garage £35 to take off all 4 nuts.
i think they welded an old nut onto the locking nut and then undid it. I THINK.
i definitely could not have got them off myself.
but its cheaper to get one from vaux.
when i enquired they said they had to ORDER it - but the mechanics would look for some old ones and try them. If they didnt have one and for them attempting to take them off the bashing way, they would charge me £30 an hour - and they werent sure how many hours it would take.
(dodgy fookers prob wanted to financially rape me - so i avoided vaux)

FFS. Need to drive to Liverpool on Saturday an all, cant be doing that with the spare on.

Just been down & the code isnt in the box, whoever had car before me mustn't have put it back in the box 
Vaux want £170 for bashing them off then a new set putting on  Think i'll have a ring round some other garages first before shelling that much out!

you'd be best of just smashing a socket over the top of them and taking them off yourself.
fair enough the socket will be fucked after but much cheaper than paying someone to get them off.

get a 12 sided socket about the same size that will fit tightly, whack it on with a hammer and it should bring them off, 4 sockets should be less than a tenner from halfords, if you even need to use a new one for each wheel

The locking nut in question has a spinning top though (if that makes sense) so if I bang something onto that then i'm guessing it will just spin as it does now when I use my fingers?!?
I can grip the actual nut with my hand as there is a bit just before it goes into the hole, but I cant generate enough force to losen it even slightly.

Vauxhall ones are fucking tough and have a collar so will be hard just smacking a socket on..
Vauxhall will have a key to get them off for sure, there isn't that many combinations.

I had the same problem vuaxhall said they would try their spare but suprise suprise no luck.
As said before you cant just smack a socket on because of the spinning ring.
I welded the ring onto the bolt then smacked a socket on

ah theyve got the ring on, ive got a set of those off before by mangling the rings with a really heavy duty screwdriver and then using the socket method

What i do is use an air chisel, if you can get access to one it only takes a matter of 5 min or less.

Depends what type of locking nuts it is.
I highly recommend the snap-on lock nut removers they work really well.
Failing that your going to have to chisel off the outer ring on the nut (as it just spins freely of the rest of it)
Once the ring is removed you can hammer a socket on to remove the lock nut

my dad did it, you need one that has grooves inside so it cuts into the existing locking nut.

Try find a friendly vauxhall garage to let you borrow one from a sales car just to remove them, obviously finding the one thats the same as yours.
IIRC Just the key on its own is about 3 quid less than buying a new full set from Vaux.
