I know, but I need it asap. I've been late for work countless times because my phone hasn't charged and my alarm hasn't gone off

some do cause issues.

In my house we have a desire, wildfire, HD2, desire HD and a sensation and a bold9000, the desire HD and sensation are a bit hit and miss with the blackberry chargers but they definatley cause problems with cheap ebay chargers and have witneesed settings changing but they work fine on the wild fire and desire

How can the cable possibly know what phone it is plugged in to? It doesnt have a processor to work out what it needs to do, the cable should work with anything it fits into, as long as the voltage / wattage can be handled by the device at the other end...

Kinda the same as engine oil

Some cables have certain pins grounded that a standard usb cable doesn't, thats what normally causes the problem.

Some cables also do have chips in them.
