work have not sent me a tax disc and it ran out at the end of june.,

its been paid for but got lost in the post, what will happen if pc plod catches me?

sure there was a topic similar to this not so long ago mate

its an offence to not display one i think but if the cars taxed it'l not flash up on there system, may be corrected though

what that man above said, offence to not display one but unless you have removed the old one and its blidingly obvious you havent got one displayed they probably wont stop you for it as it will show up on their computer as being taxed

Dont know if anyone has mentioned this but its an offence to not display it but obviously if you have tax they wont stop you, unless youre parked up somewhere and they notice you dont have it on display.

Get the reference number from the reciept? Keep it with you.

Oh and you could prob take that to the dvla and get your tax disc too.

two ways they can get you.......

VISUAL - no valid tax disc in window - reported for "not displaying valid tax disc" (theorecticaly doesn't even matter if you have it in your pocket - if it aint on the window your breaking the law.

COMPUTER - pings if the compute reads your number and it comes up as untaxed - wont apply in your case so you just got visual to worry about.

That said, I ran my car around until last thursday with out of date tax (finished June 11) and no problems. I didnt know it was untaxed until I washed the windscreen! Guess it depends upon luck eh?
