Anyone know what one of these does a 1/4 in standard?

i.e. anyone got one or knows someone with one!

Also, anyone know whether there is a throttle bodies kit that can be modified to fit this engine?

Cheers...

i think the 2.2 unit in both the astra and the coupe is the same as the 2.2 unit in the vectra with the aluminium block and manifold that comes out of the back of the engine

The reason the 1.8 16v is 8.7 and the 2.2 is 8.2 to 60mph is because the 1.8 16v is fitted with a close ratio gearbox and the 2.2 16v isn't.

Fuck knows why? If they put the close ratio box on the 2.2 I reckon it would be 7.9 easy.

Don't care anymore now. Just gonna get the Gsi. That will be doing 13's by the time I've finished!

the 2.2 ecotecs have been in the USA for a long time and tunning parts for these are in abundance over there, it wont be long untill they come here some of the yanks have got 700BHP out of them (admittedly drag cars) but the potenianal is there.

Put it this way courtenay have more faith in the 2.2 which they are developing a turbo for then the 2.0 turbo.

Quick fix plus speed get the turbo

Long term get the 2.2

2.2 has more torque than a standard 2.0litre redtop (C20XE) though. Slightly less bhp (145 i think). But, again, like the 2.0litre, there are Throttle Body and supercharger kits being devolped, cams etc. There was a post on mig months ago about an american company taking the engine, tuning it, and noting what part shattered at what rpm. Had a chart on there, was really good. Engine can be tuned mentally (using race fuel etc) to 800bhp and a VERY big hole in the wallet.
