How far do you think you could get from Manchester and back in 2 days with little more than £20 and a passport?
We are organising a Prison Break Competition between 28 and 30 September 2011 to raise funds for MENCAP and Enable Scotland. We’re hoping to raise more than £5000 from the event.
Contestants will, in pairs, travel as far as they can by running, hitching, cycling, sailing, scoring free plane tickets...
The contestants who reach the furthest destination as the crow flies without being proven to have broken any of the rules will win a prize, but more importantly will have the kudos of having beaten everyone else!
You are cordially invited to enter a team in this exciting competition of initiative, tenacity, influencing skills, guile, cheek and blatant blagging prowess.
Any tips before we get started?

Sounds interesting. Can't be that hard to get far really tho, there's enough cheap coaches and other transportation to use. I take it all food, etc. has to be bought with the £20? Seems a bit too easy to cheat.

Would work well if you are well connected/a whore on facebook and/or twitter. Ask people for help, tell them to pass it on and that it's for charity etc.

Easiest game ever. Find a local dodgey dealer, give him 20 bucks for a 9mm, hijack a car, and repeat until you reach mexico.

Not a bad idea that.
Not sure how it will work yet, we've got to go for a briefing next, I'm sure there will be some guidelines, do's and don'ts etc. i.e Don't hitchhike with strangers, doubt the compant would want to take responsibility if someone got kidnapped.

Polo Bluemotion it to Dover on £20 on fuel then blag a ferry ticket, that will have to be 300 miles.
TBH I reckon we'd have to get a plane somewhere to stand a chance of winning, especially being so close to Manchester Airport.

I think you have to get back aswell within the 2 days so you would have to work out the distance and how long you expect it to take to get both there and back.

Give up any thoughts of winning. I am sure someone who has friends with lots of money will get them to buy them a ticket to somewhere like Canada and then back again.

Air crew seat, often left empty and available to family/friends of the air crew. You tend to sign a waiver to say that you agree to open the door etc in the event of an incident.
its a fold down seat by the main exit plus normally another in the cockpit.

Twitter/fb is a good idea. There was some guy on twitter really that went around the world and stayed at his followers houses for free. Got lifts everywhere etc.
