this time it's on vehicle colour. based on my insurance details, 23 years old, 5 years NCB, 2 non fault accidents, mum and nan as named drivers, doing 7k miles a year, parked on the street.

RENAULT CLIO 182

£3000 (BLACK) YB54KSZ ---------- £898.27
£3000 (SILVER) SA54DDJ ---------- £864.35
£3000 (BLUE) GF04URN ---------- £798.63

bit of a joke that theres £100 difference just because it's a different colour.

so if you're looking for a car and are not bothered what colour it is, check first before you buy, could save quite a bit of money.

Thats mad!

If they knew what they were talking about they would know that they made less of the blues!

Mines cheeper than that with sky on my 182. 4 years no claims, 22, no aditional drivers, doing 12k a year

that's statistical evidence deciding risk and thus dictating prices if ever I saw it!

this is just admirals online quote, easier to compare prices using this, find the cheapest one, then phone a specialist broker to get the cheapest price from them.

also, the 2 non fault accidents bump up the price considerably.

My 182 was nearly as much as my e46 ///M3 to insure. The colour is based on the fact certain colours of cars are crashed more often etc

Black cars are always more expensive to insure. Same as white vans are more expensive to insure than blue, red etc

could be as little as one month...

i would also argue that the blue is more desirable than the black also.

When I called direct line to get a quote on a 182 the other week I was asked if it had the cup pack on it (the car in question did) I was then told it would be an increase of £200 just for having that.

^ That kind of makes sense. More than the color anyway! Aircon, cruise control, half leather etc would make it more desirable to nick!

didn't make any difference to my quote whether it had a cup pack or not, suppose it's different if you ring up a specialist though.

How many cars with immobilisers, transponders and battery sounders really get nicked these days?

all it takes is one insurance company to lower their rates by 30%, they would soon make that up in increased custom. then the others follow suit.

^ Yep, would make good buisiness sense!

Watching dragons den at the moment. I should go on as an insurance company, every quote is 30% off your cheapest quote.

Would get a lot of customers with that!

They have keys don't they. Most cars are stolen by people breaking into the house first for the keys.

FRP aside, Black Ford Puma's are considerably more to insure than the rest of the range.

Noticed this when i was looking for 1.

I got charged for having a LPG gouverment approved conversion, despite being for environmental reasons.....

Anyway it pissed me off as his reasons were due to the possibility of leaks if it hasnt been fitted right, but that is the whole point of having it done at an approved centre to avoid things like this happening!
