Right then, I'm starting my new college course tomorrow, not sure what to expect from it yet!
Apart from hopefully coming out with an NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering at the end of it
Who else is at college this year? What course you doing and where?

I'm sure it's an NVQ.... Could be a BTEC actually
To be honest, it's been hard enough getting them to decide what course/which college i was going to. All i know is i'm glad it's finally sorted!
EDIT: Just checked online, It's a Level 3 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, so a BTEC. I do get an NVQ somehow as well

NVQs are work based.

Someone from college etc will come review you at work for your nvq. BTEC is alright, gives you a better apprenticeship over a city and guilds.

I've been suspended from college, because I haven't got a placement with a company to allow the training! it's pissed me off loads as I was meant to start my second year today. phoned over 100 companies and nobody is taking on electrical apprentices

I just want to get my qualifications done as soon as i can, i like the idea of being able to make pretty much anything from scratch

Thats pretty shit! I'd have thought they'd let you stay on to do some theory work and let you catch up on all the practical stuff when you find a job

I don't doubt your old man could teach, so you're getting 1 on 1 training anyway

Everyone on here told you before you started day 1 that it was all a farce so not sure how you've still ended up here

i'm not even kidding, it's already happened! Been making some parallels and an angle plate on a conventional mill. So much nicer having some clean faces on the jobs than some nasty coated metal

Sounds good to me!
I've already done a bit of CNC since i started my job, but only really button pushing, no programming or editing. Don't start covering that till my 2nd year at college, i've still got a year of sanity left!
Where abouts do you work?

I hated it even going to college at 18 with 16 year olds, couldn't actually believe how childish they were and only 2 years younger.
