how long can you hold your breath for?
only reason i ask is i haven't had to old my breath for any reason for a good few years (cant even remember the last time a was at a swimming pool).
but gona be doing my survival coarse for working offshore which will mean i will need to hold my breath under water for 30secs. no big deal but just got me wondering.
just timed my self and managed 54secs. is that shit? i have no clue
whats average?

Try take a fair few deep breaths before you start and sit as still as possible, i find closing my eyes helps too. As Jules said though reckon it would be shorter under water, i certainly have never been able to hold my breath over a minute under water before.

I just did 1:35 then got distracted and breathed out
Pretty sure last time I managed around the 2:30 mark, that'd be a year or 2 back now though.

I was shocked at the last attempt. I'm pretty sure that was down to a cs thread too People were posting times around 1-2 mins but I could only ever remember trying as a kid and getting about 30 seconds so I gave it a try and smashed my previous record

Just had a go and got 1min 23secs. Can't believe I even lasted that long! 15-20 fags a day for 6 - 7 years and no form of exercise for about 2 years!

The temp of the water will be a factor as well surely? Also, you'll need to prepare for the heli simulation too

My dad and mate both do it and say it's quite easy tbh. I'd be more concerned with that than the 30 seconds though
