I have just bought a second hand standard mani an down pipe.
Question is, do I need to clean the innards out as it is quite sooty an if so how??
Not botherd too much about the outside as I have some zaust rap

No just leave the inside, but clean the block face and use new gaskets when refitting.

no point cleaning it mate, it will just get loppy again soon as you fit and use it
