I was rather disappointed with the first episode. And pretty annoyed he didn't do the bloody bungee jump! Thought Ricky Gervais was really gonna push the boat out? Obviously he can't force him to jump, but having a bit of the show where you think he will jump, then doesn't, was a waste of time.

i think it works to its advantage as it makes it seem as though it really isnt scripted that much.

If it was scripted to the n'th degree, then it would have shown him scared, refusing to jump for comedy effect, then oh look hes magically jumped.

I think it shows that even if parts, are actually how he's reacting to that situation which makes it funnier.

This is one of my bug bears about top gear

good call.... a lot of people say hes a charactor that is directed but he is clearly not. when he was on the plane and steve bollocked him on the phone.. just shows that its steve and ricky Vs Karl

I find it funny. It's clearly not scripted and Karl is a miserable cunt which annoys a bit sometimes. This new series is going to be like a dumbed down Michael Palin doc. Looking forward to it.

Some of his comments cracked me up.

Definitely one of the top 5 worst TV shows I've seen. Just from seeing the ads and having tried watching an episode of the 1st series it looks like 3 unfunny people who have scripted unfunny jokes and situations and have a smarmy expect-you-to-laugh attitude.

Obviously it's quite popular in general but I cannot stand any of the three of those twats
