My mate has been looking at some as he loves em, i was very suprised to see how cheap they are to buy now, there are plenty of 07 ones for around 6-7k which seems really cheap.
Are they unreliable, costly to run

They are expensive to run. Very thirsty engine. Not sure on Tax but I can only imagine it won't be cheap! A lot of car for the money.

There not that expensive Eck. There very heavy on fuel yea but insurance is about the same as my LCR and it's also the same for road tax, £143 for 6 months or £260 for the year. I really like them just now and for a few simple mods they can easily match the focus rs in performance. There a bit like the Mazda 3 mps now, a lot of car for the money. I'd have one in either red or the orange colour.

I think it was Ben off here that used to own a very nice orange one from new. There's 3 different models tho and one has the facelift headlights.

Aye it was Ben that had a nice orange one. That's not bad for tax, but they really are shocking on fuel Wouldn't bother me though!

A mate upgraded from his 210 cupra r to an ST a few years back, said it was a pretty big improvement. Needless to say they are thirsty but can get pretty good mpg on steady motorway runs etc

I had a good bit of sport with one the other day. He was a bit shocked at first when I kept pulling away from him lol. The advantages of a simple map eh.

They are cheap aa there is int a massive market for 2.5l turbo petrol cars due to economy. Really good value for money though the facelift st3 (the one to go for imo) is still holding money

Because it's a 4/5 year old thirsty performance car that isnt rare. Bad on fuel and non economy means depreciation these days.
Nice cars, love the later ST3 in moondust White or whatever the heck it was called I'm sure BenG will clarify.

Frozen white.
Great, reliable cars, very torquey with.a.unique exhaust note.
Shit fuel economy.
I had an 08 facelift which supposedly had more power than the pre facelifts.
Would i have another? Yes, they are great cars bit a bit conmon now

I'd say £7k is nearly right for a ford focus with a turbo

Average mpg was between 16-18 but i was always on a charge. On motorway runs it was averaging just over 30mpg.

I'd rather have a Mk1 RS than a MK2 ST.
