Hi all,
My 5 year old hitachi deckstar has just died in my pc.
So, need a new harddrive.
Anyone have any experience with running an SSD as a boot drive and a larger storage drive?.
Can I install ALL my programmes to the 2nd hard drive?...
And how big is big enough for a boot drive?. 60gb, 120gb?
Was looking at an ocz vertex 3, 60gb paired with a cavier black 1tb.
What software needs to be on the boot drive?. OS, display, sound programmes?. Would photoshop fit on too?

Yup, software doesn't need to be installed on the primary/OS drive and 60GB (Win7 install is about 15GB) should be enough if you're planning to shift most of your software to the secondary drive.
I'd also think about moving your page file your secondary drive rather than keeping it on the SSD or if you have the ram, disable the page file completely.
