Hi guys,
This isnt my car so bare with me (i have just had all this info sent to me)!
Basically, a mate of mine has a 1.2 16v Elegance C and its having a fair few problems! In a nutshell...
*Its had a new coilpack
*New spark plugs
*Drinks oil (£60 worth in a couple of months)
*Has been to various garages and had the following done - 2 oil leaks fixed (not sure where from), all levels topped up, spark plugs (again!).
*Jumps into limp home mode if it goes over 55mph, but is intermitent
*It has been suggested that it needs a replacement ECU
*It has also been suggested that it is a oil vent valve thats jammed within the cam cover or the cam sensor has gone.
*Had a RALSCAN report completed by RAC at roadside - cylinder 1, 2 +n4 clear codes. Road test:car suffers 1 cylinder loss after approx 20 minutes running. Turn engine off and vehicle back to normal.
So to recap, the car is currently fucked and garages seem to be taking her for every penny they can get at the mo!
Is this a common problem with the 1.2 16v unit and if so, does anyone know the fix?
Cheers!

Sounds like more than one issue so its unfortantly a case of killing one issue at a time.
The coilpack/missfiring issue IMO is a dodgy earth on the coilpack, I can't remember if they earth through the bolts or via a wire, Either way it needs checking, Although if the earth is fine it could well be the ECU.
Oil loss, How many miles has it done? Unless its smoking I cant see it phyiscally using that much oil.
Limp mode also points to ECU if the cam and crank sensor are working ok (Can be checked on computer)

Very helpful Alex thank you! Have passed the info on so will hopefully find out soon what her decision is!
Gary - Probably would have if it was my car, but the bird who owns it wouldnt even consider going down that route.
