The end of Flash

It looks like the world finally come to its senses and agreed with Apple on this one.

Did Steve think Flash would win? Cos he thought Blu-ray wouldn't take off and HD DVDs would win.

Not sure what the business case behind this is. Mobile devices are obviously constitute a massive part of browsing just now, causing problems for access from all of they devices doesn't bode well for the rest of the format surely.

Flash is useful when used appropriately - web browsers don't have proper access to the computers file system via current HTML5/Javascript API's so file uploads are a pain to do without it and HTML5 video doesn't do HTTP Pseudo-Streaming, RTMP Streaming or Bitrate switching. There's definitely room for both products.

Well said. HTML5 simply isn't a replacement for Flash.

Is this the behaviour of Apple fanboys? clinging on to bits of information and news in desperation at any glimmer of hope of justifying your overpriced and featureless phones

Its probably a good thing for Apple but makes no odds for other phones, apart from RIM as detailed in the article.

Your apple phones will still be overpriced and still fall behind or barely match the features and specs of other more versatile phones.

This also doesnt even touch on the fact your operating system is the equivalent of Pol Pot'esque dicatator ship allowing you to do nothing with it unless the Apple dicatatorship allows you.

You even buy a new phone with hardly any new features just because they tell you too
