One of my dogs shattered a disc in her back so is pretty much paralysed from vertebrae 13 backwards. She had surgery about 8 weeks ago but progress is slow but shes happy, young and in no pain so we decided against euthanasia! So she gets round on these until she gets her legs back (if ever!)

Just one of them things apparently in dogs with long backs and short legs. More common in Daschunds but shih tzu's are a close second. The discs are apparently deteriorating from day one and its just unlucky if you end up with a dog where they actually shatter and hit the spinal cord. Usually disc 13, the one right after the rigid rib cage
