I'm assuming a lot of you have had a clutch changed on a car at some point?
What sort of mileage was it done at?
My car has done about twice the miles I'd expect on the original clutch and looking at my service history it's never been done.

Done one on my old corsa at 85k and one on a mates vectra at 108k. Think it depends on the type of life (abuse) the car has had. When i worked for VW there was loads of low mileage polos etc that old women drove and just nailed the clutch needing them at 20-30k

Depends on the usuage.
Some people like sitting at traffic lights with the clutch down and some love riding them....its pot luck.
I'm thinking your car was formally a fleet car so probably spent it life on the motorway hence why it is probably ok? Saying that you have owned it since so erm.....

Exactly Fad, it's done more than half it's miles with me too, so I'm even more surprised.
Even with motorway miles, 127k on the original clutch seems high to me!

How would this effect clutch life?

that on the Jag?
it would have had a self adjusting clutch, which by design will do exactly as you describe

yeah on the Jag, didn't feel any change in clutch pressure, bit point etc. just dipped the clutch to downshift into a lower gear and bang it went

My old corsa was on the original clutch at 120k when I sold it. The last 20k being mostly track day abuse. And it was fine.
