What job do you do at the moment. Are you qualified in anything, and if so, to what level?

your fate is in your hands, do something about it!

I was the same back in 2007 working in Tech Support.

I devised a plan of action. Paid for some professional training and a few years later i am now a Project Manager for HP earning what I aimed for.

There are still guys in my old Team moaning and bitching but none of them have taken any action!

So you worked in IT, did a training course, then just got taken on as a Project Manager with no experience? That can't happen every day tbh.

LOL you Bugger.

I summarised at a high level, did not see the need to post an essay.

With regards to PM experience I did everything I could to get involved in project work (when I was a techy) to give me some awarness of Project Management methodology and techniques.

Every PM starts out with no Project Management experience though dont they? So not quite sure I see your point!

I am working with a lot of PM's that came from a technical support background so it does happen. Have also seen mechanical/electrical engineers transition into PM roles as well.

Brett it was a long hard slog and a LOT of self motivation, dedication and work. It does not just happen, you have to make it happen.

I used to think I would never go anywhere and would be stuck on tech support for the rest of my life but kicked my own arse and got on with it.

It can be done I am just trying to motivate the OP!

I know, don't get defensive mate. Just thought it was unrealistic to imply he could go on a training course then become a PM when in reality there's obviously a lot more background to it than just paying for a course.

But yeah, nothing will change unless he makes it happen. Most people's problem is waiting for something to fall in their lap.

I wasn't implying that he became a PM, I have no idea what line of work he is in!

More a case of if you are not happy to get that drawing board up and devise a plan to change it!

P.S your pants are coming off for your insolence

LOL no, the fact I am stubborn and push back on things has probably held back my progression on occasions but I would rather keep my integrity.

Well, no... to be honest the real reason is I have never had a female boss. Even if she was obese and stunk of lobsters i'd still lick her slime bucket to get a promotion

Best time of my life was last year when I didn't work in a dog shit office and did stuff from home. Now I just feel morbid every day like I used to sitting here contemplating suicide. Well, maybe not that extreme, but I can see why people doss on the dole and get the council to pay their way. They might not have as many nice expensive things but at least they've got time to live and not owned by some bullshit company. Anyway, I digress.

I don't think I could face going to work in the same office day after day.
I'm still a wage slave but at least working on building sites you vary your workplace, see different people and spend some time outdoors. It can be a bit grim in winter though.

Verse 1

I know there is pain (I know there is pain, I know there is pain (echo))
Why do lock yourself up in these chains? (these chains, these chains (echo))
No one can change your life except for you
Don't ever let anyone step all over you
Just open your heart and your mind, mmm
Is it really fair to feel this way inside?

Chorus

Ooh some day somebody's gonna make you want to
Turn around and say goodbye
Until then baby are you gonna let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don't you know?
Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can you hold on for one more day
Things'll go your way
Hold on for one more day (one more day)

Verse 2

You could sustain (you could sustain , you could sustain (echo))
Mmm or are you comfortable with the pain?
You've got no one to blame for your unhappiness (no baby)
You got yourself into your own mess (ooooooo)
Lettin' your worries pass you by (lettin' your worries pass you by)
Baby don't you think it's worth your time
To change your mind?

Chorus

Noo noo, some day somebody's gonna make you want to
Turn around and say goodbye
Until then baby are you going to let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don't you know?
Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can you hold on for one more day
Things'll go your way (oh things'll go your way)
Hold on for one more day

Breakdown

I know that there is pain
But you hold on for one more day
And you break free from the chains
Yeah I know that there is pain
But you hold for one more day
And you break free right from the chains

Chorus (acapella)

Some day somebody's gonna make you want to
Turn around and say goodbye (and say goodbye)
Until then baby are you going to let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don't you know?
Don't you know (no) things can change (no)
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day, yeah
Can you hold on

Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can you hold on
Can you hold on
Mmm... Can you hold on baby
Won't you tell me now
Hold on for one more day
Cause it's gonna go away

Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day yeah
Can't you change it this time
Make up your mind
Hold on Hold on
Hold on Hold on, baby hold on
Turn around, Just turn around baby
Hold on for one more day, Cause
It's gonna go your way...

More like...

I believe I can see the future
Cause I repeat the same routine
I think I used to have a purpose
But then again
That might have been a dream
I think I used to have a voice
Now I never make a sound
I just do what I've been told
I really don't want them to come around

Oh, no

[Chorus:]
Every day is exactly the same
Every day is exactly the same
There is no love here and there is no pain
Every day is exactly the same

I can feel their eyes are watching
In case I lose myself again
Sometimes I think I'm happy here
Sometimes, yet I still pretend
I can't remember how this got started
But I can tell you exactly how it will end

[Chorus]

I'm writing on a little piece of paper
I'm hoping someday you might find
Well I'll hide it behind something
They won't look behind
I'm still inside here
A little bit comes bleeding through
I wish this could have been any other way
But I just don't know, I don't know what else I can do

perception is great thing

Not everyone will be a grafter but people in high positions tend to do alot of work that the rest of the workforce are unaware of

its tends to be more polictical the higher you go and that in itself is a challenge. You have to be a certain type of individual to get to grips with business politics
