Its the C20LET, and the cambelt pulleys are plastic, this worries me somewhat. Very weak.

You should see the state of it, 14 out of the 16 valves are bent, he can't even get the exhaust valves out because they are so bent.

Then where I did'nt take it out of gear when it went, the valves have marked the top of the pistons.

So he needs new pistons as well, all in all £1000+ worth of damage

marv, you said you did it on the m1, therefore i presume you were driving fairly quickly, im almost certain the valves will be bent.

on my cousins mk2 astra the cam belt went 5 times (all at low speeds, like in 1st gear and reverse) (he just has the car for rallying about in a field near his house, so he kept replacing the belt with ones from other astras, hes only 14 so he wasnt bothered if the engine went, just a bit of fun)
And the cars still going fine (well the starter motor is fucked now)

paid 300 quid 4 10. but that was for an audi. i would presume quite a bit less for corsa 1's. a motor factors or sum where like that would do replica 1's. vaux 1's would b very expensive

youve got more guts than me for some reason i dont want to or dislike the idea of me pulling the engine apart
if youve bent some valves just go down scrappy and get a head or an engine for bout 100 quid loadsa spares
