Hey all

Im looking at getting a cheap diesel as i can hardly afford to run a car at the minute and have 3 car's about to be weighed in and a broken saxo vts that is looking like it gonna be going for spares

Ive set myself an MAX budget of £2K after ive scrapped all car's and sold my spare parts i should have near enough this. Ive been looking at mg zr (L series engined) diesels as seem to be dead cheap and with swap of injectors and remap etc id be looking at a tidy performing motor i believe.

Just looking for other ideas of cheap diesels, tax needs to be low as possible and insurance really and obvious mpg high which will no doubt be the case. I could stretch to £3k if i sold my vts so maybe idea's with that budget. Any feedback from previous owners with the cars would be great. I dont wanna be catching buses and trains everywhere

cheers

clio 1.5 dci

Some models have 64 mpg and £20 a year tax.
Insurance group 7.

Don't buy a big diesel would be my advice, tax is a joke on some of them and the insurance groups aren't much better and obviously mpg is less due to their weight.

Meh big diesels FTW! I pay 135 for 6 months tax on my 530D BMW, 40+ mpg and I am always in comfort! Sod driving a hoover like car!
