If all they need to do is drive the car from the parking area into the bay, why on earth do they always change the steering wheel height, rake, seat height, seat position, backrest angle, headrest position and radio station? I don't appreciate it

Plus I asked them to fit a new rear sidelight bulb before they tested it (to protect my manhood, I must mention that the screw holding the rear lamp in on the offside was rusted in tight so it was easier for them to do it). They failed it first time and then fitted the new bulb and did a re-test

You get a free re-test if you fail on a bulb anyway. The MOT was half price too because I booked online so I definitely got my monies worth.

Yup, I have my seat one click from the front and jacked all the way up. The steering wheel all the way up and pulled as far forward as it can go and the seat back at 90 degrees to the floor. This is the MAN position right?

I sit in on mots at my garage and my boss is very strict when it comes to this, I'm only allowed to adjust the seat if I can't drive the car onto the ramp he would murder me if I changed radio station only allowed to turn it down if its loud but when the Mots done I have to put it back how it was... Gotta be a dick to adjust everything

This is why I drive my car 50 odd miles for it to be tested by someone I know, so things aren't tampered with or I'm handed a bill for parts that don't need replacing.

I trust nobody I don't know in the motor industry.

My place is 50m up the road. It's so close I have to do a lap of the city so the cars warmed up for them to do the smoke test. Fact of the day.

Because if I've booked it in to be fully serviced and checked before it's mot'd. I expect it to be fully serviced and checked before it's mot'd.

Is that to hard to do? I pay to keep my cars tiptop not 'just fix what it fails on'

Sorry if you disagree. It's like I pay my dentist to keep my teeth in tiptop condition not wait untill summat hurts like fuck before it's fixed..

Yes - if you were going for service and MOT - then why check over the car twice?? do the MOT - then finish off with anything additional for the service - save time that way and get more customers through the door..

also advice from vosa is to fail then pass on minor things like bulbs and headlamp aim etc for two reasons - one is that you arent meant to carry out ANY repairs (exept headlamp aim adjustments) during an MOT test and secondly the gov is considering changing to a 2 year interval - which would be bad news for businesses and also potentaily road safety so you are advised to fail then pass to keep the stats up

Then it sits in the MOT parking for an hour or on the ramps before the smoke test so its then cold anyway
