Which one of the below is better all round?

Carrera
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_832095_langId_-1_categoryId_165710#dtab

Boardman
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_789255_langId_-1_categoryId_165710

Boardman
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_777741_langId_-1_categoryId_165710

Ideally I'd like a Boardman carbon bike but the Boardman carbon is a bit too much. So I have a choice between a non carbon Boardman or the Cerrera carbon bike. I haven't got a clue about running gear etc...

No doubt someone will tell me to go elsewhere for the bike as Halfords are cowboys etc so a recommendation for a bike at £1000 elsewhere would be good.

Also I don't mind buying a 2010 bike if it means getting more for my money...

This is a complete unknown for me.

Favourites so far are the Carrera or the Bianchi.

Really haven't got a clue. What is the better bike out of all in this thread?

Cycle to work scheme so thats the maximum I can spend. Means I will only be paying just over £500 over the year for it so might as well get a decent bike. Any less and wouldn't be worth entering the scheme as I'd just buy one outright.

I won't be using it to commute to work until the summer but three times a week I will travel to football on it (extra exercise) and then a couple of other times the gym. I've also got some charity bike rides coming up in 2012.

It's definately something I want to get into so I'd like to get a decent bike that I'll be happy with for 2-3 years.

wouldn't go for a carrera personally but I broke a banshee a few years ago so may be biased. I'd definitely look at alternatives to Halfords though

I wouldn't be buying from halfords with a 1k budget. Have a look at planet x, can get decent carbon frames with a sram setup for about that.

Carrera front the bikes with OK front and rear mechs normally as thats what people look for the most but skimp on the main things like bearings and wheel builds ie hubs and rims.

Look at Scotts or Genesis bikes even Specialized

On my phone so haven't looked at the links. Personally I wouldn't touch a carrera except perhaps the subway for a commuter, boardman are not bad, I was going to get one until I bought my spesh. There are so much better bikes for the money!

What's up with wanting to buy a good quality version of something you aren't yet clued up on?

If you were spending that kind of money would you not spend some time researching the subject rather than plucking the first things you find for about the money?

From the description:

Performance to the Power of X. The new CAAD10 is the world’s most advanced aluminum road frame. At just 1150 grams for a 56 cm frame, the CAAD10 is lighter, stiffer and smoother than most of our competitors’ elite carbon frames.
