It's the phoneline they use for tracking, not the dish.
You might get away with it, you might not.
If you get a letter you just take it to the registered address and plug it in every once in a while.

Only have my main box connected to phone, second box hasn't been connected for some time.
Do they not only need to be connected to the phone for the first 12 months of your subscription?

I've never had my mulit box connected, my downstairs one is though. Installation guy said don't worry about, if anything does come give him a ring and he'll sort the wireless phoneline out? e.g. sender and receiver for the box, If that makes sesnse

Not disputing that merely making a point that it can't be that big a deal if the engineer couldn't be bothered to hook it up

When my multiroom box was put in, there was (and still is) nowhere to connect it so the engineer wasn't bothered. Have never heard anything from them, occasionally get a message on the TV guide saying "for full services connect to phone line blah blah" but even that's not frequent.

This.
I had exactly the same and have never connected mine.
They will ask you and tell you it needs to be near a phone line, but in reality, it does not.
no need to worry.

My multi room box wasn't connected to a phone line for years, then I started to get letters telling me to connect a phone line. After ignoring them for a fewonths they said they would cancel my subscription if it wasn't sorted. So just dropped one down the wall out the loft, easy

They wouldn't let my friend get multiroom because she didn't have a phonline. She's still only got one box and they refuse to fit it
