it's just been on the news about high street shops having terrible sales in the run up to xmas. One reason is probably the most obvious, more people are buying things online for cheaper.

i used to always just go to the shops if i wanted to buy something, but nowadays the price of fuel, the queues, the arguments with people over pushing through etc and the price of the items mean it's far easier for me to buy something online, pay with my card and wait for it to turn up at my door.

how do you do the majority of your shopping, excluding food? and why?

Online for me.

Cheaper and not needing to traipse round town for hours are of equal benefit to me.

Every time I go shopping I come back with nothing because it's more expensive.

Lets not forget that we arent even in sale season yet, yes people have to buy for Christmas but in about 1-2 weeks everything you buy at the moment will go into sale

yes but it's not the first time that shops have been slacking behind internet sales, is it? this has been going on for a few years now.

Both, like having a wander around the shops trying on things etc. Usually ends up with me buying the stuff off the net though

Oh and primark don't let you shop online so that's another reason i go to the shops.

I like buying online, but i prefer the choice on the high street. I.e if i know what im after > Online. If i have no clue > Shops.

But i will only go at unbusy times as i fucking hate people. Nearly headbutting some old lady in boots the other day for getting in everyones fucking way.

Online with the exception of clothes. Unless I've left it too late to get it online. But I work near loads of shops so it's fairly easy to pop out at lunchtime.

Oh and that dark shop in bluewater....what is the fucking point. Making people queue up outside to get into your shop because it's dark and unsafe to have too many in at once, TURN THE FUCKING LIGHTS ON. Tried to walk in and got told to queue, said no thanks and walked off.

Is that why they make you queue

I thought it was just to create hype, because it's not lit properly is even worse.

Shop sales will always slack behind Internet sales but it does depend on the product. Websites are there for you to order 24/7 where as shops have opening and closing hours. Plus other things like shopping in your pants. Not always about price, i.e. we mirror our prices from the shop to our online store, but you might be able to get a better deal by turning up to the shop.

There's a Hollister near me now.

So you queue to get in, walk around in darkness, queue for the changing rooms, buy something, then end up looking like everyone else in town?

That is the dream IMO.

Its true! I never use to buy clothes online but now its all online, if I'm unsure about size then I just make sure they have free returns and order two sizes.

We introduced free returns for the same reason and its improved sales. Only costs like £100 a week or something if we are busy.
