Sounds about right for this country . They could get 10 double deckers for that . Most likely a back hander job

development costs and and any other project costs have no doubt been added up and divided by 8 and added to the actual cost of the bus

I used to work for arriva in 2007, a bus back then for a single level bus were 125k, a double decker £275k and a national express coach £1million

Absolutely daft, Arriva London spent £11m and got 57 buses, not 8.

I saw an old routemaster today, true story. Sounds realistic to me, trains cost just over a million a carriage.

Considering they reckon the bendy buses were losing them £7.4m a year it's all comparable really. I think the figures for these things are ridiculous anyway, I'd love to see a breakdown to see what's costing what.

My mate drives a hybrid bus, 300k each. Yesterday had some guy stop next to him in a range rover and said '90k this mate', he replied 300k this. Guy was gutted

"Labour party said the buses cost £1.3m each". What's the bet that they cost significantly less?

"Designed by London-based designers Heatherwick Studio and built by Northern Irish company Wrightbus, the hybrid open-platform bus has three doors and two staircases and cost £7.8m to develop."

"In total, just seven of the new Routemaster buses — and one in reserve — will be in service in the first half of 2012, though the mayor said there would be "hundreds more over the course of the next few years"."

"The combined cost of developing the new prototype Routemaster bus and a contract for just eight production models has set Transport for London back £11.37m. Each new bus will cost £315,000 — equivalent to the cost of each of the 150 hybrid buses already on London's roads, say Tfl."

So there you go, Labour are full of shit once again.

Pointing out the features of the design, Johnson said the "domed appearance" of the bus evoked "all those things that are iconic of London — the design of an old taxi, of a bowler hat or the nobled domed brow of a battle elephant".

I wish more politicians were like Boris.

Then the other thing that pisses me off is you see that nasal voiced cunt moaning on about the Conservative government making too many cuts and then saying how they would b investing money into the economy. Then when something like that actually happens another cunt moans about how they shouldn't be spending any money because they don't have any.

At the next election, I'm going to take a marker pen and draw a gigantic, veiny, triumphant bastard of a penis on my ballot card.

FPMSL

Except the range rover driver owns his 90k vehicle and the bus driver is simply driving someone elses 300k vehicle for probably 20k a year so why would the range rover driver be 'gutted'

I reckon it's bullshit anyway, what kind of oddball would say that to a bus driver? I'd have told him I couldn't give a sideways fuck
