When we bought this house the previous owners have put in a jacuzzi bath tub (I have only used the jacuzzi bit probably about 3 times in the 5 months we have been here!).

Sometimes, when you turn a light switch on somewhere or for example plug something into a plug socket somewhere and turn said socket on (but not whatever's connected to it) you hear this audible bang kinda noise - I don't know how best to describe the noise, it's more like a dull thud I guess?).

I think it's coming from the jacuzzi pump in the bathroom

Is this normal or do we need to call in our sparky to look at it for us? Lights don't dim or anything like that, just that weird noise.

Dnt sound right. Call someone to test it. Bath ain't the best place for electrical faults

Thinking about it I cant think why the hell a pump would make a thud if something else is turned on. Is this when said pump is running or not?

can you not isolate the bath pump and see if it continues, if it carries on while the pump is dead then its something else

Nah the pump (or the bath/electric shower) is never in use when this happens.

Thing is it doesn't happen all the time, so I'm not sure how easy it would be to diagnose?

Our sparky is on holiday now until the new year so I'll give him a call when he gets back.

The wiring for the most part in this house is actually OK, just seems that on certain things (like the Wickes installed bathroom) Stevie Wonder did the wiring which has caused things like the extractor fan to literally melt.

Turn the electric off from the fuse box and check the wiring for the pump.

I'll just get the sparky to do it, he fitted a new consumer unit for us a few months ago (and I also fix his computers for him ) so I'll just get him to come over in January and check it over.

I found the switch for it in the airing cupboard, turned it off after I came home the other evening to hear it running even though the bath/jacuzzi was not on.

No idea how long it was running for, but it's probably fucked now

I'd be very careful, we had an electrical issue under our bath that we were told if we were to put the shower head in a bath full of water we'd be brown bread. Only found this out when we came home one night, switched a light on and BANG, all lights out.
