Buy a Gti

Gti engine conversion.

G40 would be the coolest conversion.

As for the standard lumps, not worth bothering with tuning wise imo

If you want a big heavy lump in a small light car.

20v is a good engine, with good power but heavy.

20v conversion is 6k plus an engine if you use a specialist. Big job to take on yourself.

I agree with Gary, G40 with a turbo is the way forward.

I know, but the little G-Lader runs out of puff at about 180bhp, with a turbo you'll do 220 comfortably.

In a car of that size, 180 is enough surely?

A remap induction kit and decent exhaust system meant to push them from 125bhp to 155 or 160bhp

I'm not believing for a second that you gain 35bhp on an N/A with an exhaust and remap.
