Just upgraded the dashboard on my 360 and noticed I can get Facebook/iPlayer/YouTube apps through the marketplace, but it won't let me unless I sign up with XBL.
Do you have to pay for these apps or can you get them free on XBL (without having to pay for XBL if that makes sense)?

You can get xbox live for free with a silver account (rather than £40 for a gold account) but Im not sure how much access you get.
You can usually sign up for a gold month for free if you have never had it before, then you should be able to download and use all the apps, no idea what happens when that runs out though.
So basically I have no idea and this was a bit pointless

You'll need a Silver Live account (free) and you'll beable to download them.

Thanks Neil.
When I have a game that other people actually play with others online I might sign up for the gold membership!

If you do go gold the 12+2 month cards for £30-35 are the best value.

I think to use 4oD you need to have a Gold Account, i.e. you can download them but they have no functionality....
