HMV will be the first big one.
There is a Game and Gamesatation 50 yards apart in Burnley, I assume they both make profit though as they have been there a bit now.

They closed 37 stores last year and profits dropped from 80 odd million to 23 million, or there abouts.
Can't see them going just yet but its not looking good. Having said that though there haven't been any new big console releases for a few years, 3DS was it last year but they wont have sold anywhere near like a new PS or Xbox would.

Game is one of those shops that is poorly laid out, always dirty, always smelling of sweat and always poorly lit - a lot like HMV -

Amazon and Tesco sell just about the same stuff cheaper why bother with GAME?
And the GAME & Gamestation in Reading are practically opposite each other as well.

We have a Game, Gamestation, and CEX all within 50 yards of one another. Makes it easier when I go and compare prices.

There's a Game and Gasmestation virtually right next door to each other in a shopping centre in Oxford too I only really go in there for pre-owned stuff as once it's been out for a while it can be quite cheap. Gamestation is good for retro stuff Bought a Gameboy Colour in there a couple of years back They have a bunch of NES games in the Oxford one too.

My friend said something about the new xbox having no disc tray and it will be all digital download's, he said that would affect them quiet badly.
Did'nt Game buy Gamestation a few years ago? Noticed that they stopped selling retro gear like Megadrive and Snes games once they got taken over CEX, Amazon, Play, eBay and the local indie gameshop are pretty much the only places i get my games and consoles now tbh.
EDIT: Shows how stupid they are with trade in prices in some stores...
Bought Skyrim on offer in Gamestation when it was like £25 odd took it too the CEX over side of the high street and then they gave me £38, done this 5 times for insta-profit.
