Good to have something to aim for though, as opposed to just wanting to get fit in general. Gives you a deadline.

250m a week. Not that much really. I'm doing a marathon in April and am raising money on the side. Gives me extra motivation.

I did the Nottingham survival of the fittest last year with no training at all, it wasn't that hard. - took 1:30, but could of taken 15 mins or so off that if I didn't have to wait at obstacles. Also went with a few mates, and they were slow so I ditched them with 2k left and sprinted home.
Was wet when we did it as well which made the obstacles deadly, couldn't get any grip on them, the 8 foot wall was impossible without a leg up.
Also, you might be able to find the video of it on 4od as it was shown just before Christmas
Saying that, it was nice to catch your breath at the obstacles.
Looking at possibly the Edinburgh one this year and making a weekend of it.

I can swim. Water wouldn't bother me. I just can't run 12 miles never mind with obstacles

I'm a postman, so got fairly good cardiovascular, I honestly thought i'd be screwed on it, but didn't have to stop while jogging, was just at the obstacles

First was haybales, easy
Second was "parkour" zone, climb a 7ft(ish) wall, balance beam then monkey bars (which should be fairly easy, but pretty much impossible in the wet)
Third was the assault course bit, wasnt too bad, until we had to crawl under netting, which would of been ok, but they put fucking rocks at the bottom, so hurt like hell!
Fourth was crossing the river, waist deep, fucking freezing, but the cold probably helped with stopping any aches
Fifth I think was swimming across the river at the wider bit
Sixth was er...another mini assault course bit
Seventh was another a bouncy castle kinda assault course thing... friction burns from that
Eighth was another "parkour" zone thing in a skatepark, which isn't shown on the video I put above
Ninth - Up and down a few steps at the Forest ground, we walked them pretty much as it got a bit busy
Then a 2k run home to the 8ft wall!
Think the Nottingham one was 12km as it's pretty flat
