got a 1l corsa b, would love to start cleaning up in the engine bay, but i dont have a clue when it comes to stuff like this, plus im looking to do it on the cheap as im only a part timer!
anybody got any tips on what i can do just to tidy it up any slight way would be grateful

Start cheap mate an work your way up when cash comes free...most peolpe will say there's no point as the engines smaller than my left testicle
But start by degreasing it an get it gleaming, then tidy the wiring with some cable ties, battery bag maybe even paint the engine cover as that's quite cheap to do.

wd40 on a rag and clean up various bits...
change rusty hose clips for shiny ones, jubilee or something...
paint/powder coat bits...
stainless or new bolts... wing screws...
got to start somewhere mate

im sure a lot of people will tell you the same... painting a metal cam cover will more than likely flake off unless you use higher temp paint... iv only done mine temporally as iv got other plans for it
but aye if thats what you want mate buy the paint and pop through...

I painted my inlet manifold with normal smooth red hammerite. For exhausts or an engine block i would deffo use high temp paint.
