i would say not the case steve - if it did go to the courts etc then the car owner wouldnt end up being blamed for any damage to a engine from driving it as they are deemed not to be a proffesional (sp)

The garage have clearly messed something up and were either a) too stupid to realise they have messed up or b) couldnt care less

either way they have let a car out in a condition that makes it unfit to drive any damage caused by this is the responsibility of the garage

i dont think that it has been timed up right because it is still back firing and missing plus it is worse than this morning before when the old chain was on

i know its very rare and very slim but cars can go wrong whilst in the garage!?

i would take a spare AFM with you if you can, change it over whilst there and if it dont fix it tell them to sort whatever it is free of charge. if it genuinely is the AFM then i dont see how a timing chain change could be their fault.

insist they recheck the timing
insist on a compression test also - if its out of spec they should replace the anything damaged
