What's needed? Other then the gauge itself obviously, and how (in very simple terms) is it wired up?

well they both work the same if you go mech or electrical.

Mech will require a metal tube that connects to the back of the gauge then power to the gauge for the lights.

Electrical - has all the clever stuff in the bay and then you have to run a cable to the gauge for the signal of the pressure.

You usually T off from the oil pressure sensor.

As above, but on your XE engine I've found the best way to plumb in an aftermarket electrical gauge is by using the grub screw in the back of the block down near the oil pump, or by using the grub screw used for the turbo oil feed on the LET. They are both Allen head and M14x1.5

You can see them here:


You can buy adapters that will wind in here and will enable you to wind the sender into the block.

Then it's just a case of connecting a -ve & a feed from the gauge, then the wires to light up the gauge inside your car.
