On the v5 theres a section for declaring changes to the vehicle

Now do i only need to fill in section 7.24 (cylinder capasity) and 7.28 engine number

Or do i need to fill anything else out atall?

Thanks guys

Just those 2 mate and then sign it.

When I took mine to DVLA though they wanted proof of the new engine from a garage there and then.

I got asked for proof from a garage too.

Opened a word document, made up a garage, wrote a little white lie then signed it with a random name.

DVLA loved it

What if you fit the engine yourself, what do they actually expect you to do?

its basically to match up all the engine numbers so they know if its from a stolen car etc.

when i declared mine i provided a covering letter stating all the required numbers and changes, old engine details & new engine details, reg number from the donor car etc. (also had photo proof) and they sorted me a new V5 no problem.

Obviously with any car it needs to be road worthy which is checked during an MOT

So if they ask for a note just make one up. What should i write in it? Just a receipt?

Or get my mate to sort me a receipt from his place?

Oh and the last thing i need to know

Engine number?
Is that just c20xe? Or is it the specific engine code if there is one?

If you've got a mate who would sort a recirpt you could do that if its easier.
or if you wantto do what I did you'd need to write a letter including photos if possible, stating when the conversion was Done and by who, state what car it is and what engine was removed, (size and engine code)
State what engine is being put in for example: 2.0 16v, c20xe and the engine code which is stamped on the block, if you know where the engine came from include details (reg) of the car.

The engine code is a 8 digit code stamped on the block where the gearbox bolts to
Example here is mine:

Not on the insurance no , they know it's a 2.0 it's just the tax as a 1.0 but it will be back dated
