Ok the story is the missus and I are going to visit friends in the states (tennassee) to be exact and the deal is all I need to pay for is the flights. The cheapest I've got so far is £1700 so if anyone knows a place cheaper then please let me know.

Now for the good bit I'm going to be hiring a car and seeing as its in July it'll be bloody hot do I was thinking a mustang soft top or the like. How do I go about getting prices for that kind of hire car??? Has anyone on here done this???

Cheers for the help.

Oh and don't bother with hiring an Evo comments lol.

when i went to florida in sept i just googled, hire car florida and went down the companys..

im guessing your over 25 but when i went they wanted 25 dollars a day extra because i am only 23 (young driver fee), this meant that even the shitty chevvy small things were 6-700 for 2 weeks which i couldnt justify. I really did have my heart set on hiring a mustang or camaro whilst over there too fuel is soooo cheap

£1,700 for flights? Thought it would be cheaper then that, even in July. Flights and accommodation for 7 of us to Florida for 2 weeks from March - April is around £5,500. Could be a number of things driving the price up for you though.

Allamo, Dollar and Hertz are the big names for car hire.

You'd be best to look at fly-drives if you've got somewhere to stay eck

Can't remember. Possibly $90 a car should of been $120. But honestly don't know. Those figures ring a bell though

I'd say get your mate (the one already over in the states) to have a look around for you and see if he can get a good rate.

have you looked at, getting a in-direct flight, then flying internally? a little messing around, but its alot cheaper!

Flown from texus for $50 to go florida. (though it was new years day 2000) the flight was empty and got upgraded to first class, as the crew didnt want to walk far!

I'm having to do 2 stops as it is. Glasgow to London, London to New York then New York to Nashville so a total of 16 hours. The last thing I want is to drag it out longer lol.

That's my birthday.
First time I went to Vegas we drove to LA afterwards and booked the car before. When we got to the budget desk they asked if we wanted to swap for a convertible.
So you could always change at the desk.

Better off with a fly drive to be honest? If your dropping the car back in a different state from when you pick it up you are normall charged about 500 dollars drop off fee. When doing route66 most hire car companies requested over 25 unless the named person was 25 and you were willing to pay extra for insurance for anyOne else who was to drive the car under 25.

Alamo seemed to cheapest and also good coverage although we experienced bad customer service in the end so they dropped their drop off fee and virgin refunded the cost of the car
