I've been messing in my drivers doorcard today trying to sort a rattle out...
I've ended up with the car not starting
Basically I can put the key to the second position, and my dials all light up. A few seconds later, an airbag warning appears - then about half a minute after that the dials go off completely.
If I try to press the starter button, I can hear the engine trying - but it doesn't kick in.
I'm a proper noob, but I'm thinking bad earth somewhere? It's too dark to get the doorcard off again now - but can anybody suggest anything else worth trying in the morning?

Possibly, but what could I have done to cause that? I've not been sat with the radio on all day or anything - could I have damaged something to cause the battery to discharge?

Once I get the feeling back in my hands I'll go outside and check all the fuses.
I'm trying really hard not to panic

Take it youve tried locking it and opening it again incase the immobiliser has expired?
Happened to me before when opened a car and then been working on it for a few hours then it wont start as once the immobiliser was deactivated it wasnt started.

Car is in my parking space nose facing a fence
Just checked my Halifax online banking and I get AA cover included with my Current Account, including homestart calls.
Wondering if it's worth them coming to get me running?

If you've got AA Homestart they can come round and jump it.

Alrighty the AA are incoming!
Question is, are they going to get pissed off and start charging me if they figure out I've caused the fault by dicking around?
I've hidden all my tools just in case

You've flattened the battery by working on the car with the light on.

He came, he jumped, it lives!
Just taken her out for a blast and no warning lights or anything like that so hopefully we're good to go...!
My first flat battery, I freaked out far too much in hindsight
