Everyone seen these?
I got one back with my plate retention and I assumed it was temporary but I just put my new motor in for an mot and I got one for that too.. I bet loads of people are getting funny about second hand cars with these new plain paper MOTs!

according to our mot tester at work the main reason is to stop people 'throwing away' the adivisory issue sheet when selling a car. For people the dont know the fails and advisorys are all on the same piece of paper.

no its clearly to save money in printing out sheets, this way garages provide there own paper.
doesnt matter about being fancy when all the info is held electronically

it's not to save money it's to save hassle,
There is no need for hologrammed certificates anymore due to the electronic information held on each car.

well steve, it cost money to have the printer set up with the mot computer etc so it was actually hassle compared to using the old ones. i don't care what the paper looks like. i care if it passes.

This was enforced in October if I remember right.
It's a cost saving measure by VOSA. Instead of having loads of special green, orange, red and blue (MOT testers paper) with stickers etc etc on it, the garage uses plain paper so it costs nothing to VOSA.
Also as mentioned, the advisories are now printed on the MOT certificate which makes things clearer for everyone involved. Alot of car dealerships/garages were binning advisory sheets when handing a sold car over to a customer.
Also all police cars and personnel now have access to all MOT data in a matter of seconds now so really it's just a receipt for if you're selling the car etc.
