Sold a set of part worn Pirelli P Zero ( 265/35/18 ) on EBAY for £200 + postage

The guy has come back requesting a payment of £50 as he says they are 6.5mm rather than the 7mm I measured.

What a fucking bellend

'I paid a lot of money for them'

Did you fuck! You paid less the 1/4 of the original as new price for more than 80% of the tread

if he opened a case with ebay, he may win it as he'd say the 'item is not as described' but it takes the piss when people are like that!

Tell him to send tyres back and you will give him a full refund. Bet he won't say anything then.

I did ask him if he checked using another depth gauge

Told him to beat it.... not offering a partial refund, not think he has grounds for a return.

Ebay will have you off, happened to me twice with tyres now, people bid too much then regret it, then you get penalised.

I don't even mention the tread depth, I just take a photo of the tread and say I don't know what it is, then they can't complain

They can and Ebay will uphold it. I've sold with pics and started at 99p and still lost the money, you get the stuff back but you'll be down for what it cost to get them there.

This could get dodgy.

If he's being arsey about the tread depth, who's to say he wont pierce a few holes in the sidewalls before he sends them back if thats the course of action thats taken.

He's crying about less than 8% difference in tread depth and as such wants 25% discount, yeah that works out. At best I'd offer him the more accurate figure of £14.26, I'd have to be in a particularly good mood for that though.
