Bought it this weekend to go on my 500D,
All I can say.. so far.. is how pleased I am with the results.
For under £90 (New) it a great lens to have in the bag.
So far only taken some of my sister cupcakes and one of my son (as he moves about so much!!)
Depth of Field is brilliant.. at my standard I feel like apro with it
I just need to learn how to sort out White Balance and how to use the Canon DPP software better, but for now I'm quite chuffed with how I'm managing so far.

Nice lens and great value, I always found the autofocus a bit slow but I was comparing it to L series proper stuff, for the money it's a great purchase.

Editing on a laptop screen that was dimmed probably wasn't the best way to do that - never mind,
My tip for editing/WB s to shoot in RAW and edit in PS's RAW editor. The sliders will help you a hell of a lot and you'll be editing raw data not a manipulated .jpg

GAZ,, the colour edit you did... thats how the Original RAW photo was before I altered it to give it a warmer look
yep B&W looks good.
I've only got Canon's DPP software, to edit Raw,
thinking of getting LightRoom though.
what you think?

Buying? Nah - acquire it, it's not worth the cash unless you are making money from it! (LR and PS for that matter)

F1.8 at 50mm is great for portraiture and the lens is cheap and small enough (you can get them a bit cheaper on ebay) Top baby pic looks great
I only got rid of mine because of the very slow and clumsy AF compared to my USM lenses.
