Just beeb browsing for a new toy and have come across a Jag XKR convertible with an LPG conversion; i know that its not going to be megga cheap to run but i wondered how it would compare costs wise to running a non LPG XKR. Never really looked at LPG running costs but wondered if anyone has experience in that area.
A normal XKR would do combined 22MPG

It'll still do about 20mpg, just you're paying less for the fuel.

I know the cost of it LPG was half but i didnt think the MPG was a good when it was running on it.
You do see a lot of V8 Range Rovers with LPG conversions tho which made me think it must be worth while

MPG is not quite as good but only probably 10% at most. Depends on the car.

got a 4.6 rangie with lpg. no noticeable difference in performance or consumption. you could say that effectively your jag would do about 40mpg as the cost of the fuel is halved

with the Jag wont you need to consider where the tank is going to go (or maybe how big the tank can be as the roof will take up a certain amount of roof space surely )

Its already been down so assume its in the spare wheel housing. The roof on the XKR Mk1 goes into a sealed section behind the seats so there is the same boot space if the roof is up or down.
Cant see a filler in the pics either so i assume its hidden

It depends on what system it has. It will do a little less on mpg - maybe 4 mpg but obviously its cheaper. You still have to start on petrol untill it gets to a certain tempreture so you still need petrol in the tank for that.
Dont kid yourself into thinkin it will be half of the cost. I would say about 40% cheaper. It may not sound much different but if you are doing circa 15mpg it makes a big difference.

Mate has a 1.6 MK4 Astra van with LPG
I have a 1.7 CDTI MK4 Astra van
Mine costs less to run. The End
Seriously though I hear the bigger the engine the better it works.

My V6 Passat (with LPG) does about 20mpg.
It used about half a tank of fuel to a full tank of gas. It's certainly cheaper, but not as cheap as I though.

I'm considering getting LPG on my zafira £1800 for conversion though. going by average figures would pay for itself in about 16-18 months

I was looking at p38 V8 rangerovers and the owners say the equivalent MPG is about 30-35 considering on petrol they are about 18MPG.
