Insurance still need a quote on file, without that they won't be able to recover costs from the other insurer if someone else is at fault.
Just the proceedure

Thing is, you can't just write off a car, you need confirmation in the form of an estimate that the repair cost exceeds the value. You'd be amazed at what can be repaired, and also amazed at how much people exaggerate damage

No it didnt cause it, but he was a passenger, and the driver flipped the car, and the roof just caved in, should never of been on the road in the first place.

Edit - Taken from the newspaper website at the time:

"Garda Stuart O'Sullivan, a public vehicle inspector, said there was ' heavy impact damage' to the Subaru, and inspection clearly showed it had previously been badly damaged too. It was already in such poor condition prior to the crash that it would not have passed the NCT, he said."

If it's a cat c be wary as when you go for vic check they won't like it been welded on abc pillars . I wouldnt be reshelling it . Plus insurance would never send you round for quotes with damage at that level, if roofs been chopped off it's going straight to a cat b indefinitely and will never be on road in this country again

You read anything in this thread? Even the original email says they're only asking for the quote because the insurer have requested it

I doubt any insurance company would ask for quotes after roofs been cut off . That's what their assessment team would do and the fact the roof has been cut off will instantly put it on a cat b

They all do, the assessment team then takes the images and estimate from the garage and does an assessment based on that. And in any financial based industry you need paperwork to back up everything you do

Lot # 11884672 - 2011 (61) MERC C220 AMG S
PAV: £32,000 GBP
Repair Cost: £29,411 GBP
ABI Cat: CATEGORY B - BREAKER

Just one of many examples.

I know its pointless as its never being repaired, but the figure is there.
