I bought a new dj controller from a guy I found on eBay, he ended early and I paid with PayPal, this was Wednesday before last and he told me he sent it by courier. Last Tuesday he texts me saying that it's been returned to him because there was no one here to sign for it (which would be the case after 6 or over the weekend) so he resent it by royal mail on Thursday.
It's still not arrived and when I've asked for the tracking number he's said things like its just got a barcode, and now he's away and the receipt is at home.

He's been texting me quite a lot offering help to set it up etc and seemed very genuine, but I've put a dispute thing on PayPal because I text him this morning asking again for this tracking number and he's ignored me.

So cs, would you believe the guy and accept royal mail might have delayed delivery for a week, or stop being a naive fool and accept you've been scammed

Nothing wrong with using PayPal to force his hand a bit. See what happens.

It's a £330 controller I got off him for £220 so I'm thinking maybe someone offered him more and he's strung me along for a bit before refunding me.
Or he's just mugged me off

Not used eBay, just contacted him using the mobile number he put on the auction and paid straight to Paypal

lol and you were gonna do a bank transfer too. You were warned. Interested to see if you get your money back, since I didn't in a similar scenario in the past.

I'm glad I didn't bank transfer! He explained that by saying if he was ending early he didn't wanna pay fees and thought if I paid PayPal he'd pay all the fee's.

Repeating the whole story back I'm starting to think I've been a bit silly...

I just hope you're still protected mate cause it's a fair bit of money. Like I said, I bought outside ebay and they wouldn't honour it and I lost £50. Let us know how you get on, he may actually be genuine yet.

"hi mate can you send me a text saying you want your money back and will never deal with me again?? Basically just be pissed with no threats of violence and also your paying in details for instant transfer I have your gear"

I'm confused, he said the other day he's visiting family near me and should have just dropped it off. I'm baffled

Yes you still have buyer protection for none reciept, but as it was not through ebay Paypal can only refund you if there IS money sitting in his Paypal account.
Whereas with ebay buyer protection you get the refund for none reciept regardless of funds in his account. Ebay then get the money back from him themselves.

Not actually got a clue, sounds like he's wanting you to send him something he can use against you for some reason.
