One rule for one, one rule for another?
It is terrible what happened but what about those protests the war, where extremists were saying along the same lines?

Suprised there hasn't been no jokes about Muamba (although he is on the mend now). Quite dissapointed there.

It's quite worrying that they can send you to jail for that tbh considering you can actually physically harm someone and get a fine at worst.

There have been 4 cases of footballers dying on the pitch in the last 20 years, I'm so glad it wasn't Muamba no.5

If this is what people are jailed for then half the internet crew will be off to alcatraz.

I don't know whether to be happy or sad about this. On the one hand its completely disproportionate compared to actual crime with actual victims and on the other it should make people think about what they write on the internet, which I'm all for.
Do think law is fucked though. Jail for being keyboard warrior.

I think this is more a 'setting an example' kind of sentence rather than something that would actually happen to people that made racist comments online.
At least half of CS would be in jail by now if that were the case...

Is it strange how people phoned the police about what happened on Twitter? I don't know how that makes me feel...

Quite ridiculous. How many times do you hear of crimes happening and people get a slap on the wrist and that's it.

Think he was retweeting that American cunt who was saying some really shocking stuff. I know it's harsh but being a Bolton fan I felt more annoyed about it than I normally would.

Rediculous though.
Goto uni, try make good of yourself > jailed for calling someone names.
Scumbag on an estate > beat someone up after too many cans of special brew in the park > slap on the wrist and told not to do it again.
Hmmmmmmm

I think its an utter joke he's actually been jailed for that.
Then again, I know of someone up here who stabbed a guy in a club (already done time for similar before) and got 2 years. Under the new sectarian hate laws, me and hammer could have a go at each other with certain 3 letter terminology and get 5 years a piece.
True scum are out there and they're banging up people for this?
