A lot of the success is in how you apply it.

Ie give your tyres a good scrub with a decent cleaning product before hand. Also allow plenty of time before driving off (as in hours and not minutes).

I use autolglym stuff, but I put it on wet tyres.
Then wipe excess of my alloys and leave to dry.
Gives it a wettish look for a few days then it stays dark for weeks.
As said make sure tyres are clean first though or it won't last.

I am using Megs at the moment. Hugely overrated IMO! Its an artificial shine. It does last a while though.

For a less cartoony look I prefer Autoglym, but decant it into a jam jar, use a paint brush to apply. Looks super good. As SetH mentions thouigh, clean your tyres and once applied leave it hours before you drive.

What do you recommend for that? I've got the Autoglym tyre shine stuff but don't have a specific wheel/tyre cleaner.

I use mothers tyre and rubber cleaner. Spray on and agitate with a decent brush then rinse of. you do not want to be applying tyre shine over a layer of shit and you will be surprised how filthy tyres get even if its not all visible to the eye.

May have to pick up some proper cleaning stuff then, I tend to just give them a scrub with a brush and the dirty car wash water

Does G101 work well as a tyre cleaner? Just thinking if I scrubbed some of that into the tyres, rinsed it then after drying apply my AG tyre stuff.

Cheers Shaun, may get some of that then. Only seen good reviews for it and it seems fairly reasonably priced. About a tenner for a litre on eBay.

Pics would be good so we get an idea of the kind of finish each product gives.
